RIP Loona. A very good dog.

We had a dog named Loona. She was an airdale/german shepard. She was 70 pounds. She was extremely intelligent, hilarious, loyal and sweet. She was a great protector of my two daughters. She was the best of all friends.

Loona died today at the age of 9. She was chasing a deer across the street and was hit by a truck. She died almost instantly.

Loona and I were very close. She and I drove across the country together six times. On three of those trips, I kept a blog with stories and pictures of our travels. you can find them here:

trip one, trip two, trip three.

I did love that dog and I am sorry that she is gone. That is all.

Thanks.

LCK

Hey Louis,
Just wanted to say that I am very sad to hear about your loss. My husband and I have loved your work for years and we really appreciate all the joy and laughter you've brought into our lives. So we wanted you to know that we are thinking of you in this tough time. We lost a warm and funny old bassett hound last year -- so we know how difficult it can be. At least you have the great pictures and your memories. Be thankful for the years you shared and focus on helping your kids to understand. I think they have an even rougher time with this stuff.
All the best, Rebecca

Only you would describe a dog as hilarious. RIP Loona and all other dedicated animal companions, sprinkler-attacking or otherwise.

Dear Louis,
My family had a beloved german shepherd named Luna that we lost a little over a year ago at age 12. She was the joy of our lives, and I was fairly certain my entire family would go into a reclusive state, financially relying on my sister's and my boyfriends while consuming rolls of raw cookie dough and listening to enya in our pajamas for at least a year or two. We miss her to this day, and walking into my parents' home will never be the same without her, but we did manage to pull ourselves out of the slump. Inspired by her life, my sister and I started a homemade dog food business (www.getdoggiediner.com) in her honor, and I know her wonderful memory has everything to do with our success thus far. I know, if anyone can, you will be able to find inspiration from Loona's life even though she is no longer physically by your side. Our thoughts will be with you and your family.

Best,
Gayle L.

P.S. We'll be at your show in NJ at the end of June! A surprise father's day gift to our beloved dad! Looking forward to it.

To you and your family, please accept our condolences on your loss. Non dog lovers don't realise what it is to lose a dog that is part of the family.
I lost my GSD, four years ago, he had just turned seven.
On behalf of Happy Families Magazine we wish you the best for the future and the thought that, 'it is better to have loved a cold wet nose than never to have loved before'.
All the best
Susan

That sucks. I was just watching the podcast that had the Loona bath segment. My best to the family, I'm a big fan.

I just got my wife a puppy for Mother's Day. His name is Jambi.

As a dog lover I enjoyed your travel blogs with Loona, and I am very sorry to hear this news. Let your family (especially you daughters) know that your fans are thinking about them and Loona.

Sorry. Dogs are awesome. I thought that once they die, they cannot be replaced by an other one. I was wrong.
